We worked on how to represent important cultural and natural heritage sites from southern Paraguay using digital and physical models. After our study trip, we focused on places such as the Yacyreta Dam, the churches of Pilar and San Carlos, and the wildlife refuge. We wanted to show why these places are important for history, the environment, and our community.
We did this project because during the trip we realized that Paraguay has many places with historical, cultural, and environmental value. We wanted to learn more about them and share that knowledge in a creative way. Our goal was to connect what we observed in real life with technology, design, and oral presentation.
First, we observed and documented the places we visited during our study trip to southern Paraguay. We used real photos and references from the sites to understand their shapes, materials, and architectural details. Then we created sketches, built physical models, and used SketchUp to make digital models of the places we studied. We also organized our process in a digital portfolio with photos, videos, notes, and reflections.
We found out that each place has a different kind of value. The Yacyreta Dam is important because of energy and engineering, the churches show history and cultural memory, and the wildlife refuge helps us understand the importance of protecting nature. We also learned that digital tools can help us represent real places and explain them in a more visual way.
Our project matters because it helps people understand and value Paraguayan heritage. By creating digital and physical models, we were able to show that these places are not only tourist sites, but also part of our history, environment, and identity. We learned that technology can help preserve memory and communicate what we learned to others.
Next, we could improve the digital models by adding more details, labels, or interactive explanations. We could also create a virtual tour with photos, videos, and information about each place. In the future, this project could become an educational resource for other students who want to learn about the south of Paraguay.
We used photos, videos, notes, and observations from our study trip. We also used information from our classes and digital tools such as SketchUp for Schools, Minecraft, and digital portfolios. We thank our teachers for guiding us during the process.
