The question that our team worked on was: What would a modern structure look like when combined with a Jesuit structure? After analyzing the question and visiting the Jesuit church, we decided to build our school in Minecraft using some Jesuit structures, materials, and design elements.
We did this project to understand what a modern and Jesuit structure would look like when combined. We wanted to build our school in Minecraft with many details, including some elements from Jesuit architecture, but without losing the both styles. The objective of this project was to learn more about Jesuit structures and modern architectural design.
We made this project in Minecraft. First, we chose what structure we were going to build. In our case, it was the school (Colegio Del Sol). Then we analyzed the materials and structures used by the Jesuits, also, the materials and style of modern architecture, especially the ones used in our school. Then, we assigned each team member a specific part of the school to build. After a week of building, we fixed some mistakes in our project and added more Jesuit decorations. Finally, we finished our project and presented it to the class.
We found out how two different styles can be combined in one structure, but, look very different. After we presented our project to our classmates, we realized it worked well because they noticed that our idea was a good way to show how modern and Jesuit architecture can be combined. They also saw how building styles have changed over the years.
Our results matter because they show two types of architecture and the different ways to build the same structure. We learned about the materials the Jesuits used, for example: wood, ropes, and rocks. We also discovered that the Jesuits built and decorated their structures based on religious beliefs. We can understand that our project shows how the same building can change depending on the architectural style, and how the materials and architectural structures that Jesuits used are different from the present.
We believe that to improve this project, the next step would be to recreate the Minecraft structure in a more realistic app. Some new ideas we could include are: combining Jesuit architecture with other modern structures, such as a mall, supermarket, or even a house. Also, next time we could choose a different architectural style instead of the Jesuit one.
We want to thank Teacher Claudia Garcia for helping us in all the project.
