2025 STEAM EXPO

PROJECT SUMMARY

Our problem was that at our school, we had a long line and the canteen at reccess. Kids would have to form the long lines to buy snacks. Most of the students weren't even able to get to the front of the line before reccess ended and had to return to classes with their time wasted on forming a line.

WHY?

The students that would waste their times forming lines, weren't able to eat anything, and wasted their whole intire recces. That was a seriouis problem, because recces was ment for eating, using the bathrooms, finishing works, and having fun. But if the kids that formed the canteen line, where only able to waste their time. They would have to return to class hungry, with none of their classworks finished, they would be interupting the classes to go to the bathroom because they couldn't at recess, and would be all hyped up and acelarated in classes because they weren't able to release all of their energy at reccess.

HOW?

We first started brainstorming on ideas to solve this serious problem, after a couple days of research and hardwork, we decided on programming an app available to all students and faculty members that would allow people to pay and reserve for their food that they would be eating the next day. Meaning that after they would reserve their food they would only just have to go and pick it up, making the canteen process way more simpler, ideal and less time consuming.

WHAT?

We worked with the owner of the canteen to help us with the inventory systems, items that were for sale and prices. We did several tests to see if the app would work, we made sure that the app would be easy and accesible for anyone to use.After testing our projects functionality, the results showed us that our idea was doable and that it would be the perfect solution that we needed.

SO WHAT?

We learned that if theres a problem, you don't eliminate the cause, but instead you implement a way to fix it, and thats exactly what we did, we saw a problem and we found the solution. Our results showed us that implementing the app would be a perfect solution. It wouldn't just be beneficial for the kids, but for the parents that could just order and pay for their kids snacks from their houses. It would also benefit the people from the canteen, because they would be able to know aproximatly how much to cook or prepare not having to worry about not having enough food or having too much food. Our results showed us that implementing this system would be a great solution that evryone would benefit from.

WHAT'S NEXT?

Our app is already finalized, so, our next step for our project is to launch our app and make it available for evryone, from students, to parents, to teachers and canteen workers. People will be able to sign in with their school e-mails, and canteen workers will have administrative accounts with access to the orders taht will show them; from who they are, and their payment method.
