PROJECT SUMMARY

We noticed that, due to our daily activities, sometimes it is difficult for us to feed our pets correctly. So we created BeCoM to solve this issue, this prototype is an automatic dog food dispenser, that provides the exactly amount of food recommended by veterinarians according to the size of the dog.

WHY?

We developed BeCoM to make easier the feeding process of our pets. Also, we want to ensure that our little friends receive the right amount of food, according to their needs.

HOW?

We used recycle materials to assemble a butterfly valve and the food container. We configured on Lego Spike Prime Hub the servomotor position (from 0 to 90 degrees) to open and close repeatedly the butterfly valve.

WHAT?

After many tests, we found out that with the right configuration can be selected the exact amount of food for each type of pets.

The container is connected to the pet´s plate by a tube, so when the servomotor rotates to open the valve the food is supplied.

SO WHAT?

In this project, we learnt how to create and to program a butterfly valve, to work as a team and how to manage a STEAM project.

WHAT'S NEXT?

In the upcoming months, we will add a water module and a real time option to set a feeding routine.
