The problem I addressed was how to transform an artistic idea into a tangible piece that combines digital design, manual techniques, and creativity. I decided to create a decorative puzzle as a way to express my artistic vision and develop technical skills in design, laser cutting, and painting. A standout aspect of the project is that the shape of the puzzle is unconventional, which makes it especially difficult to assemble, adding a level of challenge and entertainment.
I chose to carry out this project because I’m interested in how art can be integrated with technology to create useful and aesthetic objects. The puzzle allowed me to combine my passion for design, drawing, and painting with digital tools. I wanted to demonstrate that a traditional object like a puzzle can become a personalized work with meaning, color, and detail. I was also motivated by the opportunity to learn new tools such as Rhino software and the laser cutter.
The process began with creating the design in Rhino. I then used a laser cutter to make precise cuts of the pieces in MDF. I ensured that the shape of the pieces was complex, which adds difficulty and makes it more interesting to solve. After that, I painted the base background and sketched the drawing in pencil over the pieces. I painted each one with acrylic paint, using brushes. I also painted the frame and base black.
With this project, I was able to develop both technical and artistic skills. The final result is a puzzle that serves not only a playful function but also a decorative one. The complex design of its pieces makes the assembly process a fun and challenging experience. I learned to work with materials like MDF and to use new tools. The creative process also allowed me to experiment with colors, shapes, and textures, and to find personal ways of representing an idea through a concrete objec
This project is important because it shows how different disciplines—digital design, industrial cutting, and painting—can come together to create something unique. It allowed me to explore the world of industrial design from an artistic perspective and reinforced the idea that art can be present in everyday objects.
In the future, I would like to create larger versions, explore different materials (such as acrylic or recycled wood), and apply other techniques like laser engraving. I’m also interested in teaching other students how to create their own puzzles. interesaría enseñar a otros estudiantes cómo crear sus propios rompecabezas.
I would like to thank my teachers for their support and guidance during this project, especially in using digital tools and throughout the artistic process. I also thank my school for providing access to materials and the workspace that allowed me to experiment and develop my idea. This project was inspired by my interest in art, design, and the creation of objects with personal value.
