We saw that students were bringing The problem we worked on was that the students had to bring many heavy materials in their backpacks and we didnt want students to have back problems or have a problem bringing the items to school because of the heaviness of the materials.
We chose to develop this project because we noticed that many students experience back, shoulders and neck pains from carrying heavy backpacks everyday. This is a common problem in students among different schools, and it can lead to long term health issues if not adressed. By exploring this issue, we wanted to find practical ways to reduce the way students carry and raise awareness about the physical impact of heavy school materials. Our goal is to improve students well- being and make their school experience healthier and more comfortable.
To solve the problem of heavy backpacks, we created a digital app that replaces physical notebooks and homework with digital versions. In our app students can acces digital notebooks, complete and submit their homework and organize their school materials all in one place. By using this app, students no longer have to carry heavy items.
After we tested our app, we found that students were able to carry fewer materials to school and felt less physical discomfort, especially in their backs and shoulders. The digital notebooks and homework features worked well, allowing students to take notes, complete assignments, and stay organized without needing to carry heavy books or papers. The app is easy to use and works on different devices like tablets and laptops, making it accessible both at school and at home. Our solution showed that using digital tools can significantly reduce backpack weight and improve students’ overall well-being.
Our results show that students can use the app easily and efficiently. They can write with different fonts, draw, and change colors in their digital notebooks. The app also has a progress bar to help them keep track of homework from different classes. From this project, we learned that teachers can’t always see pending tasks, and that students often get too much homework at once. This helped us realize that schoolwork organization also needs to be improved.
We believe we could improve our project by making the app even more functional and adding features to help students with their tasks. We also want to work on better role distribution in the group. Next time, we could use a more advanced app builder to get better results. Our goal is to make it easier for students to manage schoolwork and reduce the need to carry physical materials.
Our teacher of Work and Technology, Claudia García, guided us throughout the process of developing the app and our portfolios. All our ideas came from our creativity. We would also like to thank our team members: P , A ,V , R , and J . Special thanks to Teacher Claudia for supporting us in everything.
